Billboard Not Pulling Tight
Several factors can prevent a billboard from pulling tight during installation. Here are some common reasons:
Lack of Tension – If the vinyl isn’t properly stretched and secured, it may sag or wrinkle. Correct tensioning is crucial for a smooth, professional install.
Incorrect Wrap Amount – If a billboard has too much or too little wrap then it will make if very difficult to get a tight installation
Incorrect Size – If the billboard frame does not match the billboard print, it will not install correctly. Billboard faces should be measured prior to installation. This happens more often than you think.
Weather Conditions – Wind, temperature changes, and humidity can affect the installation of a vinyl billboard. Heat can make vinyl expand, and cold can make it contract, leading to loosening or wrinkling over time. In colder conditions the vinyl is difficult to get a good stretch. You might have to go back out to the structure in the summer and retighten.
Old Wooden Billboard – Some installers will just want a hem so they can screw the billboard to the wood face. We advise against it as it is hard to get the folds out. Plus it is time consuming and eventually your wood panels will wear out.
